Present Korean Wedding Convention

In the past, classic Korean wedding rites were much more sophisticated and involved a lot of time. A key element of the festival is a bird(kireogi) which represents devotion and loyalty. It is traditionally a survive bean goose but presently it is more usually a wooden one. The goose is passed around from host to tourist and bowed to. It is a symbolic gesture as ducks are known for their extended living and loyalty to their lovers.

Another critical moment is paebaek. This is a meeting in which the bride and groom earn respect to their communities by offering them teas. They also offer jujubes and walnuts which symbolize sons and daughters. The number of customers can be very big for this festival and in the history it was only the vicar’s home who participated but now the bride’s parents are usually invited to.
